1 Mātrā is the time taken to pronounce a short vowel such as "a". Below, you have the amount of mātrā-s assigned to both every portion and the entire Mantra itself in order that you can pronounce the Mantra properly, i.e. without shortening or protracting inadequately any part of it. Of course "vā" is "va + a" or "v + ā". I make this point clear as I spell "vā" differently below to calculate the amount of mātrā-s.
